'Okay, that is the last time that I walk here from my dorm after exercising.' her mind scolded, her body dropping to the ground infront of the paddock. Hands smoothed over her legs as they ached beneath her jeans, the touch soothing them barely. 'Great, if I ride with my legs like this it'll probably be murder'. She muttered in her head, her back colliding gently with the ground as she leaned back. She kicked one leg over the other, her legs tilting into angles so that they were bent towards the sky. She kicked her foot outwards, waiting for the stretch feeling in her thighs to stop burning before she made up her mind. She gave a sigh and rolled over to her side, pushing herself up with her arms. She wasn't going to endure this for nothing, that just wasn't her game. She climbed onto the first rail in the fence, a whistle surpassing her lips. It was answered not too much later, a quarter horse stallion appearing in her view. His tobiano coat rippling gently over strong muscles.
He gave a nickering call of satisfaction, his stocky legs carrying him forward to her. "Hello baby boy." she whispered into one of his ears, the hairs tickling near her face. She slid over the side of the fence, giving him a few welcoming pats on the shoulder as she clipped the leadrope, that had been in her hand, onto the dashing leather halter on his head. She had to admit to herself, he had a rather beautiful and well angled face, it was so like her though to find only perfect qualities about her horse. She ran a hand down the stripe on his nose, pausing a moment before she moved gently to his side. 'Do not throw me." she spoke, not really a demand, but more of a statement. With that said she threw herself as lightly as possible onto his back, it not being that far with her being 5'10" and all.
She wrapped both hands into his mane, her one still holding the leadrope as she moved him into a settled trot. He didn't hesitate to start moving forward. His stride was choppy but lengthy, he didn't have the best trot. Still, she held on, her thighs screaming at her. She nudged into him again, his pace slipping up into a smooth lope. Her thighs gave some praise, he had a smooth lope and it wasn't that hard to hang onto him. He had a broad barrel, with a smooth back that didn't pain her with every step. She only wondered how it must be for men. Ouch.
She was halfway along the fence line when she remembered she hadn't put a helmet on. Not good. She was focused on that and the fact that her legs hurt. She should have just stayed on the ground. Still, she had the wind in her air, not to mention billowing through her black hoodie. Three quarters of the way along the paddock side and her thigh began to burn. "Are you serious?!" she answered to it, losing all track of her direction. Her horse began to turn as the edge of the fence drew near and she slipped to the side. 'Shi-" was all she managed to get out before her side met the ground. Her horse had slowed going into the turn, doing somewhat to soften the blow.
She rolled onto her stomach, her hands flailing around her head as if she still had more to collide with. Thankfully there was nothing left to smack. She groaned, gasping for breath from the wind knocked out of her. She pushed herself up onto her elbows, then her hands. Her eyes peering at her horse who was trotting around as if nothing had happened a few ways off, his leadrope smacking along his back. Good thing she hadn't been gripping too hard, she probably would have been dragged along. Talk about a new kind of pain. She sat up fully now, wiping the dust off of what she could, her breathing staggered but near normal. "I think we'll stick to a ring and safety-gear from now on" she spoke to her horse as if he wasn't too far away to hear her.
